Having been heard about the reputation of the Stingray Hot Pot in Vung Tau a long time ago, I have now had the opportunity to experience it myself…

After wandering around Vung Tau in the morning, we decided to chose Hoang Minh restaurant to refill our energy with its signature dish: Stingray Hot Pot.

This restaurant only had 2 main addresses: 44 Trương Công Định, Ward 3, Vũng Tàu City, Vietnam and 8 Đinh Tiên Hoàng, Ward 2, Vũng Tàu City, Vietnam. We went to the first address. In addition, be careful when you decide to go to the first restaurant’s address since there are many other restaurants having the exact same name as Hoang Minh. You might end up eating in a “copycat” restaurant rather than eat in the ORIGINAL one.

The restaurant both serves indoor and outdoor, just like every other Vietnamese street food restaurants. At the time, although the restaurant was extremely crowded, the service was quick, and we didn’t have to wait so long.

The menu (sorry for the camera angle, it’s hard to read)

This restaurant served many dishes in various ways: seafood, rice, chicken, frog, beef, pork chops, Vietnamese salad, etc. This restaurant was famous because of its Stingray Hot Pot signature; therefore, we ignored the other dishes and went for the one and only Hot Pot.

The price for one hot pot varied like this:

– 150.000VND/ small sized pot (suggested for 2 people)

– 180.000VND/ medium sized pot (suggested for 3-4 people)

– 220.000VND/ large sized pot (suggested for more than 4 people)

This was my first time to come here with my boyfriend so we didn’t know about the portion size of this hot pot. We decided to order a medium one. In less than 10 minutes, all of the food was served.

And this was the star of our dinner…

Looks mouthwatering, right?

Although the hot pot looked small in these pictures but don’t be fooled by that. In fact, the hot pot was HUGE and had lots of food in it.

It tasted just like how it looked: delicious!

Stingray hot pot had the same broth as sour bamboo shoot soup. The broth was evenly sweet and sour, packed with aromatic flavors of herbs, and was well seasoned.

My mouth is currently watering as I’m writing the article…

In this hot pot, you had sour bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, pineapples, and last but not least, stingray meat. There was a lot of stingray meat in one hot pot. The meat was still juicy and firm after a long cooking process. It was easy to eat stingray meat since it didn’t have any bones but cartilages. Some fresh rice noodles, some vegetables, some stingray meat, a little bit of the hot pot broth, and then add a little dash of fish sauce would make a perfect combination.

The night in Vung Tau City was somewhat chilling. Sit eating hot pot while embracing the vibrant atmosphere around was truly memorable and amazing.

At the end of the night, we were totally full and 100% satisfied with the quality of the meal and the service.

The side dishes didn’t come with the hot pot so the total cost for this meal was approximately 230.000 VND. The price was cheap and worthy for a meal like this.

In short, you must visit this restaurant and give the Stingray Hot Pot a try when you travel to Vung Tau City.

This was a long review because I had such great impression about this experience. Thank you very much for patiently reading till the end.
