There is one thing I have to say about Lappeenranta and its neighboring regions: The high chance is that I won’t be able to see all of their beauties, like the one I witnessed today.

I went to LUT University at 9am with two layers of shirt, one thin pants and a half-conscious brain – what definitely came after a drinking night. This morning in Lapp was as cold as usual – something below 5°C, a bit foggy. But the best thing to see were the shining sun and dry weather – just perfect for an outdoor trip.

The target of MOINK20 and WE Campus Club today was simple – to reach Savitaipale, conquer the Orrainpolku trail, and enjoy the scenery here.

About 45′ by bus and we arrived at Savitaipale

The beautiful rural area of Lappeenranta

Located around 40km to the Northwest, Savitaipale is famous for its beautiful forest trails, the inner lakes, and the long-abandoned Kärnäkoski fortress. For the trip, we were provided with cheese rolls, chocolate bars, and bananas. I brought some sandwiches along and eventually ate all of them.

The Orrainpolku trail is a basic hiking trail for all ages. It has good markings and woodboards in good condition
If you are expecting to see some challenging steep rocks, then I’m sorry; Finland doesn’t have that rough mountains 😉 the whole trail was quite easy to go through
Along the way, we could observe a wide collection of plants, mushrooms… 
…as well as the beautiful lakes of Savitaipale
During the trips, we had some break times. You can either use them to take pictures, or to observe the beautiful scenery
At the end of the trip, we had a small grilling meal. Even though it wasn’t very warm, but having hot sausages after exercising in forest is a great idea

Around 6pm, we arrived back in Lappeenranta. The excursion is quite flexible, as we can save time, money, and still having a good time in the wilderness.
