Me, comparing to many friends of mine, did not have much time left at Phú Yên. Hence, I can only give comments on three places that I was able to witness.

*This article includes some images from my companion.

2pm, a February afternoon, close to Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year).

The coach took us from our workcamp, through various routes: from the beautiful green fields, all the way to roads which laid between ponds and cliffs.

The group, which was already exhausted after two laborious days, attempted to take a nap. Only me, along with the group leader (boss) and our photographer were awake, chatting at the front seats. We were excited thinking about what was coming, though I was the only person who had not been to Phú Yên before.

“The scene here will make you want to come back” – my boss said confidently.

At Mằng Lăng church

The asleep church was suddenly awaken with our amazement.

Having a distance of 35km from Tuy Hòa city, Mằng Lăng church is considered the oldest Christian site in Phú Yên province, as well as one of the first churches of Viet Nam. This place is now obtaining the first script that was written in the alphabet version of Vietnamese by Alexandre de Rhodes.

The Gothic style is the main structure. Its name Mằng Lăng comes after a rare species of tree in the local area, which is unable to be seen nowadays.

In the church yard stands a artificial hill, inside is a tunnel with stories about Saint Anre Phú Yên, along with the script.

If you are a fan of history, the Mằng Lăng church will surely cheer you up.

Arrived at Gành Đá Đĩa

After a short while, we were at Gành Đá Đĩa, a spectacular site of Tuy An, Phú Yên.

After entering the site, I rushed to the area of Gành Đá Đĩa, about a kilometer away…

…and this is what I saw:

And last but not least: Gành Đèn light house

After having good time at Gành Đá Đĩa, we continued our trip by heading to a beautiful light house – Gành Đèn.

Though not having a stunning appearance, Gành Đèn light house still stands out, for its breath-taking surroundings.

A few words

I had less than 5 hours to explore Tuy An, Phú Yên. And, to be honest, what I found has been super.

Having been well-known as the place of “green grass and yellow flowers”, Phú yên is beautiful in an unique way – natural scenery, without luxury thing. Should you have the chance to visit Vietnam, Phú Yên must be your priority.
