Lappeenranta 02/2019,

I woke up late – which was very unusual for people like I do (if you know me well enough). But well, after spending your whole Saturday struggling with accounting mathematics and having dinner only after 11 pm, things started to make sense, that you were stressed out, and an uninterrupted 8-hour sleep is mandatory.

You know, the global warming stuff is bad for this whole world: it caused El Nino and stuff in tropical states, devastated blizzard in the States, and ice melting at both Poles and so on. In Finland this year, the locals had reported for the first time in their life, seeing ice melted in early February and thus not being able to ride their ski-doos on Saimaa lake, which is a terrible news for everyone.

However, apart from all the negative stuff, this new climate situation gave me something.

Something like, a sunny Sunday morning.

Light crawled all over my flat’s wall

“Having been in the dark makes you cherish the beauty of lights”, said one of my friends. And it turned out to be more than true.

Originally from a tropical country like Vietnam, you’d probably never have this light issue like the Nordic states. In my hometown, there’s always sunny – rather terrible sunny – and the temperature is something 30 degrees Celsius daily. That’s why many fellows, when coming to Finland to study, struggled by its ferocious, dark winter.

I don’t mind the coldness. I don’t even like the Vietnamese hot climate. I just simply missed the sun. It’s like an old friend, cheering me up every morning, and revealing the best things in my visual world.

And today, just like an old friend, sun came back to my room, like it has never been away.

Coffee, buddy?

For the first time in a while, lights sank my room in its golden sundae. From the kitchen’s window, I got to see how beautiful the palm forest around my place looks like, scattering among dunes of white snow, which can apparently disappear soon enough. I also be able to watch neighbors jogging around with joy on their faces – there will be a marathon going on in May so people are getting in shape now.

And last but not least, I see myself giving out a slow pace and enjoying life in this manner. Do my bed, make myself something for breakfast, then end up sipping milk coffee and listen to Yle. They are playing some music when I’m writing this article. Some music that I haven’t heard before.

But those are amazingly good, though.

Well, just be careful not to be fooled by this beautiful scene – it’s still negative one or something with bitter wind blows. However, they are much less aggressive than what they were, like, a month ago.

Sometimes, one does’t need much rest to feel recharged for life. One just, how to say, longs to see a lovely bone, like in this case, a sunny Sunday morning.

Hyvää aurinkoista viikonloppua – Have a nice, sunny weekend!
